Australian Education Overview

Australia attaches great importance to education. It values each student and trains them to be observant and to have the ability to solve problems. It has first-class quality education recognized worldwide and has a high level of credibility. The degrees conferred by Australia are recognized by the world's developed countries.

Australia 's education system is six years of primary, four years of high school, two-three years specialist, and three-six years university education. (education in the field of humanities, science, and business takes three years; veterinary, surgeons, dentists, construction takes five years; and medical courses requires six years). The students who have completed undergraduate courses will receive a degree (Bachelor Degree). Some of the humanities and sciences confer a professional honorary degree (Honors Degree). This requires additional year of study (usually including the completion of a thesis). There are higher degrees such as Postgraduate Diploma, Master Degree, and Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy).

Primary and secondary education
The fee for overseas students for admission to the Australian primary and secondary schools usually takes 7,000 to 10,000 Australian dollars. The cost of living of each student is 7,000 to 12,000 Australian dollars. The opening of primary and secondary schools in Australia is by the end of January or early February and the application processing time takes about 3-6 months.

In Australia, most universities implement the dual semester system. The first semester is from the end of February to early June. The second semester is from July to early November.

In specialist secondary schools and technical colleges, the opening is usually in early February and end in December. But there are schools that have three or four year term. The ELICOS, TAFE and private schools set up is different. If you are interested in attending one of them, you can register from the administrator or secretary to check about the school year schedule.

University education

Universities normally commence in early March to the end of November. But there are schools whose school year is divided into two or three semesters. Recently, a growing number of universities accept students in July but of course also based on the courses available.

Australia 's university education focuses on the learning of theoretical knowledge and application of understanding. Students are trained to think critically and to raise arguments in different points of view. Students actively participate in classroom discussions and at the event that they did not understand the issue they can at any time raise question. Many lecturers intend to encourage the students to discuss and express their views to deepen understanding of the issues. Most universities are providing counseling to students to help them develop more effective learning skills. Many university lecturers also guide overseas students for them to have a rich learning experience in their study in Australia.
