Life in Australia

In Australia, there are about 18 million people and most of them live in the east of the Pacific coast city. Early residents are mainly British descent. In recent decades, people from Europe and around the world, including Asia-Pacific countries, immigrated to Australia that is why it has become a multi-cultural country.

Australia is an English-speaking country. The political and legal system and even the culture are inherited from the British tradition. It has close ties with Western Countries and the regional exchanges with the neighboring countries and also with the Asia-Pacific region increasingly deepened.

Australians are warm and friendly. Because of its beautiful natural environment, peaceful social environment, and world renowned public education, it has become an ideal place for tourism and for students who want to study overseas.

The Australian federal government has a total of six states and two regions. The central government is in the capital, Canberra. The Prime Minister implements the system and the different states have respective governor who is responsible for the management of state affairs.

Australian climate is more moderate than in Europe or the Americas. In the northern part, the climate is similar with that of Southeast Asia and the Pacific region. In Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia, summer is in January and the average daytime temperature is 29 degrees Celsius. At night it is 20 degrees Celsius. In July is midwinter and the average temperature is about 22 degrees Celsius during daytime and 10 degrees Celsius at night.

In New South Wales, Victoria Island, Tasmania and South Australia, the average daytime temperature in January is 26 degrees Celsius and in July 15 degrees Celsius and seven degrees.

During summer in Australia, people wear only thin clothing but at night sometimes there is a need to increase jacket or sweater. In South Australia, people wear thick winter clothing such as coats or jackets.

A single student living expenses is about 70,000 Australian dollars, including food, medical and entertainment expenses. For the spouse of married students, they need to prepare additional 5,000 Australian dollars and each child is about 3,000 Australian dollars. These expenditures do not include airfare and tuition. If the spouse or children are studying in Australia, it may be necessary for the extra tuition.

Some universities have dormitories and students can enjoy an independent bedroom and study room and share bathroom, laundry and entertainment facilities with the other boarders. Most of the dormitories provide meals while other just provides kitchen equipment and cooking utensils for the students to cook for their own food.

Students may also lease their own houses or units. The rent depends on the region, size and house equipment. Many students in Australia like to share unit or house with other students.
