The Kingdom of Belgium, in Western Europe, is a constitutional monarchy state, covering 30,528 square kilometers and a population of 10 million. There is more rainfall throughout the year and its summer temperature has an average of 17 ° C, and a minimum winter temperature of 2.6 ° C. It is a federal state, with 3 relatively autonomous regions: Flanders region in the north, where the language is Dutch ("Flemish"), Wallonia region in the south, where the language is French, and Brussels in the East , which is officially bilingual with 60000 German-speaking people. Belgium is one of the founding members of the European Community, and its capital, Brussels, is also the administrative center of the European Union as well as NATO headquarters . Brussels has about 100 million people and has various international official and unofficial bodies in this office. Belgium has been a well-developed industrial country, except Britain, it is one of the first to enter the industrialized countries that compact well-known industries such as electronic communications, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, diamond processing, metallurgical, chemical, textile, glass, carpets, nuclear power and so on. Shanghai Bell Company (Communications) is one of foreign-invested enterprises from Belgium in Shanghai and ranked as one of the leading company in China. Another part of Belgium that initiates its industries is Antwerp, the second largest city of Belgium (population 500,000). It is where Europe's second largest port, the world’s fourth largest port is located. It covers per capita export value to the world. Antwerp is the world's leading diamond processing center and diamond trading center.

In Belgium, the official language is French and Dutch, therefore, institutions have French and Dutch medium of instructions. If there are international students who are interested to pursue their master's degrees, Belgium universities that uses classroom teaching in Dutch set up graduate classes with English teaching method. Most of the Chinese students who apply in these universities benefit from the English medium of instruction. Therefore, the minimum TOEFL scores required for graduate studies is 550-570 to evaluate the English proficiency of a student . Post-graduate studies set broader contents on their professional programs that include engineering, arts, economics, management and law.

The Belgian government allows students to work for 20 hours after school sessions with monthly income of about 350-500 dollars and majority of the students were engaged in restaurants. If the students can be employed as teachers of Chinese, their income can be slightly higher. Under Belgian law, after the graduation of foreign students if they will not be employed by Belgian enterprises and institutions, the students must leave Belgium. Those students who have a higher profession or high-level degree are expected to have more job opportunities.

As Belgium is a member of the Schengen agreement countries, the Belgian school students who have already the visa and corresponding ID cards are given the privilege to travel to Germany, France, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Greece, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden , Iceland and other countries.

Flag Emblem

In 1830, the Netherlands declared their independence from the Western European small Kingdom of Belgium. The national flag of Belgium contains three equal vertical bands of black (hoist side), yellow, and red; the vertical design was based on the flag of France. During the Belgian revolution against the Dutch domination and riots were everywhere, a civil guard wore the colors of Brabant Black and red marks and at this time the independence war heroes sacrificed to fight and even spill blood during the wars. The yellow symbolizes the national wealth and harvest. The flag came from the pre-independence Brabant classes and used by the Flemish provinces Guéhenno people who resisted the Dutch rulers Seikai. The emblem with Blaze color and Marquis color badges, the Central Golden Lions that heaved with red tongue and black foot reminds the emperor’s laws and freedom from the ancient banner as Belgium is a hereditary monarchy country.

Belgium enacted the National Emblem in 1830. As Blazon classes Principality once dedicated to supporting the people's struggle for independence, Belgium's national flag and emblem are to retain the emblem of the Principality of profiling black, red and gold color characteristics. The center logo emblem represents a shield standing in a black emblem on the lion, the symbol of royal authority and power. The shields hung from belt zone that are surrounded by ornate first Medal of King Leopold pouch is a sign behind the Royal power and justice Gold Festival crutches. The crown decorated at the top of the emblem corresponds to the nine Belgian provinces and at the base of the national emblem is a red sash where the nation’s motto is written "Unity is strength” in French and Flemish language.
