Another way of funding education is scholarship award.
(1) International cooperation: This scholarship is an agreement by People's Republic of China and Belgium (Flemish region). For more information about the scholarship, the student can contact: China Scholarships Council (State Board of Education Students Foundation)
(2) Development cooperation: International Cooperation Directorate (DAC) (formerly the Belgian Development Cooperation Authority) give very limited number of postgraduate scholarships (Master's degree level or levels). These scholarships should be given priority for Chinese students who can meet the qualifications to be a scholar. The main slots of scholarships are issued by the Flemish Inter-University Committee, a French teaching committee in Belgium.
(3)University Scholarship: Some universities in Belgium award scholarship to a limited number of international students, with the conditions that these students meet the specific requirements on education background, age and professional experince the applicant have in China.
(4) Others: Scholarships are also available from private or semi-private organizations, and international organizations. For example, UNESCO, WHO, FAO, the European Union and the European Space Research Organization (EOST), and other various service clubs.
Meanwhile, Belgium universities only accept a certain number of scholars with equivalent qualifications every year specifically for the Chinese students. An applicant who wants to apply for a scholarship must have an experience in research institutions during the undergraduate study or even after study.
