The Belgian Consulate General in Shanghai handles all visa transactions in the region. The applicant must submit the complete application materials in accordance with the requirements of the consulate. The Consulate General of Belgium will pay for materials sent to the institutions for their approval and generally it will take about two months time.
Student visas application materials to be submitted are the following :

1 valid passport

Four accomplished application forms signed by the applicant. Indicate the date of completion. It is required to fill in the form with a computer or typewriter with 2-inch photos

Medical certificate (including negative HIV test result)

No criminal record certificate. ( The certificate should be valid from the date of issue to six months period. If an applicant stayed in the last five years in a foreign country, it is necessary for the government or relevant agencies in that respective country to produce no criminal records to prove the applicants good value.)

Belgian universities or institutions of higher education asses the applicant’s English proficiency (if the applicant needs to take language courses first, it will be indicated in the University's admission notice)

If the student applied in the French-speaking universities for a four-year study, enrollment of the school year is from July 15th to November 15th and a high school diploma to prove that the student have finish high school education.

Applicant’s guarantor for the economic guarantees needs to fill out specified forms. These materials are to be filled out with the local government certification. If the sponsor is living in China, the guarantor should accompany the applicant to the consulate to submit visa applications materials, and sign economic guarantees documentation. If the guarantor is residing in other countries, the economic guarantee certification should be sent to Belgium consulates to verify the certification.

To prove the financial capacity of a guarantor, the following materials should be presented: certificate of deposits authenticated by the bank, payroll or tax bill and the guarantor’s monthly income of at least 750 euros.

Copy of the guarantor’s identity card

Degree certificate (foreign language certificate if the student studied such course)
Two envelopes with name, complete address, telephone, and Zip code (for Chinese only).
