Applications materials required for visa application to study in Belgium

2. Four accomplished application forms signed by the applicant. Indicate the date of completion. Fill in the required forms; Dutch, French or English. Attach form with 2-inch photos.

1. No criminal record certificate and its translation (if the applicant has attained the age of 21 years). This certification should be issued and authenticated by the Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office. The certificate should be valid from the date of issue to six months period. If an applicant stayed in the last five years in a foreign country, it is necessary for the government or relevant agencies in that respective country to produce no criminal records to prove the applicants good value.

2. The Belgian government recognizes and supports the Belgian universities or institutions for higher education. If the applicant language course is not viable after the first track, the University's admission notice requires a prerequisite; an applicant must submit its language courses in order to acclaim certificate of registration.

3. Certified university diploma and degree certificates, from institutions to prove that the applicant have acquired a preliminary education.

4. If the applicant will be affiliated to the Belgian Dutch Central government institutions of higher learning, provide a proof that the student have passed the college entrance examination, and eligible to enter the schools having the same conditions for students who are applying to the Chinese institutions of higher learning (for example, taking notice of the higher education institutions, colleges, universities).

5. If the applicant will be in Belgium's French-speaking universities for a four-year study, provide a certificate for the government of Belgium, that China has recognized the applicant to be enrolled in the academic year before the November 15 next year to July 15 upon issuance.

6. A/ Applicants who have scholarship should prepare the certificate of scholarship granted.

7. B / For Chinese students residing in Belgium and have guarantor and stay in other countries, the guarantor should provide economic security certificate.

• Applicant’s guarantor for the economic guarantees (to be specified forms-form number annex32). If the sponsor is living in China, the guarantor should accompany the applicant to the consulate to submit visa applications materials, and sign economic guarantees documentation. If the guarantor is residing in other countries, the economic guarantee certification should be sent to Belgium consulates to verify the certification.

• Copy of the guarantor’s identity card  

• The applicant should open a personal bank account in Fortis Bank in Belgium to obtain a certificate of deposit to validate that the student is entitled to have economic guarantee with the accounts of at least 5,845 euros a year for living and studying purposes. If the education will only take for less than a year, the account should be of at least 487 euros per month of study multiplied by the number of months. The result of the calculation is the required minimum deposit amount.

12. C / Guarantor residing in Belgium provide economic security

• Applicant’s guarantor for the economic guarantees needs to fill out specified forms. These materials are to be filled out after the local government certification.

• Belgium issues an economic guarantor’s certificate of registration, identity card, and passport copies through the local government.

• To prove the financial capacity of a guarantor, the following materials should be presented (certificate of deposits authenticated by the bank, payroll or tax bill) and the guarantor’s monthly income of at least 750 euros.

1. (If possible) A certificate of completion that proves that the student has studied various foreign languages.

2. (Important) Detailed statement why the applicant wants to study in Belgium and career goals after finishing the education.

3. Two annotated state name, address and telephone, Zip code and self-addressed envelope (for Chinese only).  

Note :

• All materials require the original copy (in addition to Articles 2 and 3 of materials). Passport (all non-blank pages) and two copies economic guarantees.

• All materials required should be submitted by the applicant personally. Visa application is every Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00.

• The consulate only receives complete materials.

• All applicants must be interviewed in English or French levels.

• All materials will be sent to relevant departments for approval.

• The consulate will timely notify the visa applicant about the results of the application

• All certification needed by the embassy are required to be certified by Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office before passing to the Belgian Consulate.

• The entire non-government sector should issue the materials needed required by the Belgian Consulate for the guarantor certification.
