Chinese Student Visa (X Visa) Application

X Visa:
X Visa is a student visa issued to applicants who go to China for the purpose of study, advanced studies or intern practice for a period of more than six months.

Note: An alien who comes to China to study, short-term advanced studies or intern practice for a period of no more than six months shall apply for a (F) visa.

How to apply:
à Go to the visa office of the Embassy or Consulate-General in the consular jurisdiction where you reside to submit the application or you may send someone else or a travel/visa agent to come to the visa office of the Embassy or Consulate-General in the consular jurisdiction.

Mail applications are not acceptable and will be refused.

No appointment is required.

Chinese Student Visa Requirements:

• Valid Passport à The passport must have at least six (6) months validity left before expiration and at least one blank page left in it. (First time applicants who were previously Chinese citizens must also submit a photocopy of their Chinese passports.)
• One Completed Visa Application Form à You can download form online. Print and sign it. One form per applicant. Fill out either on your computer or using black or blue pen. Do not use pencil or pen with red ink. If the visa application form is not filled out completely, correctly and legibly, this can cause a delay in processing or the refusal of the requested visa.
• Photograph à One passport style photo for each application (black & white or colored is acceptabl e). Photo printed on regular paper or photo of poor quality is not acceptable.
• Letter of Admission à A photocopy of your Letter of Admission from a Chinese school. You may keep the original and send in a legible copy of the admission letter.
• Physical Examination Certificate for Foreign Citizen à this is needed if you will study in China for more than one year.

Visa Fee:
$50 for American and $30 for citizens of other countries

Pay by Money Order, Cashier’s Check, Company Check or Cash. Personal checks are not acceptable. Make the check or money order payable to Chinese Embassy or Chinese Consulate.

Visa Processing Time:
The regular processing time is 4 working days. For express service, additional fees of $30 will be charged for 1 working day processing or $20 for 2-3 working days processing.
