The following are some of the possible opportunities when studying in Hong Kong:

( 1 )

Hong Kong as springboard to the outside world!

As employment after graduation is still the problem of most students, most of the students from the mainland opted to study in Hong Kong not just to study however but for them to be prepared for their plan of studying outside China and portray themselves as international professional. According to related statistics, 22,000 postgraduate students have pursued their postgraduate study in Britain and the United States. On the basis of their academic record in Hong Kong, most of them received full scholarship from British and American universities.

( 2 )

The Hong Kong government does not restrict students coming from the Mainland if they seek job while studying. According to the HKSAR Immigration Department's "Admission of Mainland Talents Scheme", the Mainland undergraduate or graduate students are given full accessed to local companies or organizations as long as the students submit the necessary requirements to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Immigration Department. Mainland students who, after graduation, have stayed in Hong Kong for seven years are considered as permanent residents. The Hong Kong Education and Manpower Bureau statistics show that in 2004 there were over 60% of the graduates from the mainland opted to stay for further studies or employment and are now permanent resident of the HKSAR. They are engaged in the industry, including advertising, accounting, finance, and tourism.

Recently, universities in Hong Kong have seen that most Mainland Students had demonstrated outstanding achievements. As such more than half of the total mainland students could receive an honorary degree in their graduate study, or good paying job.

To help the students work in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong universities also provide active support. The University of Hong Kong, for example, provides free of charge employment directions and guidance. Moreover, university guidance center give students professional guidance and job interview skills and other various forms of help.

The university will also meet with some well-known organizations and conduct seminars or job expo for more job opportunities.

In recent years, the mainland's economic development speeds very quickly. As such many students are attracted to come back to the Mainland after their studies abroad to seek employment. Innovative technology to the development of the motherland is the best contribution that internationally educated professional could give to the Motherland.
