Ireland 's qualification for excellent higher education has been widely recognized internationally. Tertiary institutions have very rigid competition. This is the reason why institutions have many admission requirements. Local students must take standardized tests before they enroll in their undergraduate programs. Foreign students academic ability shall be scrutinized on the basis of documents presented (TOR, report cards, etc.). O ther schools require foreign students especially those whose mother tongue or medium of instruction is not English to present results of English Proficiency Tests like the TOEFL, TSE and IELTS. These foreign students must obtain an average score of 570 and 6.0 for TOEFL and IELTS respectively.
Strengthening English Proficiency
More than 99% of Chinese students reinforce the need for English. According to the current level of Chinese students’ English proficiency, the students can choose 24 (approximately six months) or 36 weeks (about nine months) of taking English courses. Foreign students who have finished a four-year university course must have to take English courses for at least 24 weeks (6 months) or 36 weeks(nine months) Before the student can join the local students in their professional studies.
Language schools have two weeks Christmas break then the classes resume after that. Students must not fail to report on the first day of school because it would be a class tests where the results would affect promotion
The number of students in each class is relatively small. Each class is limited to about 8 to 15 students coming from English speaking and non-speaking countries.
Generally, classes start at 8: 45AM and end at 1:00 PM. During free time, students may participate in schools extra curricular activities or may go to the library hall.
English Proficiency Learning Clearance
1. No high school student can participate in the high school achievement examination without completing the English coursesIf the student passed the examination from any Irish school, he/she will be given a High School Certificate and he/she can apply to any of the universities of English-speaking countries.

Students who have high school diploma are still required to finish English courses before they can take the annual National University Examination every June. If the student passed the English courses, he/she can apply to any of the universities of English-speaking countries.
3. Students who wish study in Irish public undergraduate courses must apply through the CAO. Students who wish to enroll in a university must meet the required tests results and other Irish school courses before they are admitted to the university studies. Some Irish universities and universities of China have made some mutual agreement and it would be easier for students from both countries to enroll to the universities of these countries. Examples of established friendly relations between institutions of higher learning are the Porbello College in Dublin and the Nankai University of China.
4. Degree programs in Ireland would take you three to five years to finish. Students will attend to weekly lecture and work individually on extra curricular activities and assignments. Most universities conduct preliminary examinations in May and the final examinations in December. According to the university policies and regulations, the students must have to complete prerequisite courses and other specified topics and articles before taking the final examinations.
