Macau has rich culture and it is an international tourist city. The blending of cultural diversity provides students with a broad international perspective and excellent academic atmosphere. The curriculum and quality of teaching of Macau universities meet international standards. Most courses use English or Chinese as a medium of instruction and also Portuguese in some courses. Because of the multi-cultural environment, the language skills of students can be improved and they can also adapt easily than going abroad because language is not a barrier.
According to the Macau Polytechnic University, they have signed mutual agreement with the United States, Britain, and some well-known universities in Europe and other countries. After the graduation of students, they can transfer directly to those universities to enroll in undergraduate or masters degree courses. Macao University of Science and Technology have also signed agreement with schools in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other countries. It is also launching a summer cooperation and exchange agreement with the United States, Australia, France, Hungary and other countries so that students can continue to learn. Studying in Macau can serve as springboard for further studies abroad.

Compared to Hong Kong, Macao has lower college tuition fees. Annual fees are about 40,000 to 60,000 RMB. The cost of living is relatively the same with the cost of living in the mainland. The current constraints after graduation are that the Mainland students are required to return to mainland to work in the civil service and other administrative positions. In Macau, residents are entitled to equal pay for equal work. It is reported that Macau’s rapid economic development, social stability and prosperity, 426% growth in the GDP, along with further development, will expand gradually the demand for workers. The labor market will open up further and there will be a lot of employment opportunities for graduates in Macau.

It is noteworthy that according to relevant regulations, mainland students who are student visa holders cannot work in Macau. Macau is a tourist city and the e xhibitions on tourism and gambling give opportunities for students to have part-time works. Although majority of subjects have no internship opportunities, there are practical courses which allow the students the opportunity to practice in different countries or regions wherein food and accommodation are usually provided, but not necessarily training allowances. Because there are no opportunities for students to work in the university in order to be granted college scholarship, Macao University of Science and Technology has established a special grant for some student awards such as for outstanding students who are free of all fees. Macao Polytechnic University also list results of various scholarships to students such as: Huang Kai Scholarships, Mainland Students Scholarship Foundation in Macao, and Mainland New scholarships.
