Malaysia ’s Masters in Business Administration (MBA)

Type of Master of Business Administration (MBA)
MBA courses are offered at the National University of Malaysia, private universities and private colleges in partnership with universities abroad. In Malaysia, there are various types of MBA courses, such as: Executive MBA, International Executive MBA, Modular MBA, MBA Corporate, and In-Company MBA.

MBA Courses
MBA courses fall into two categories namely professional academic courses and in-service courses. Students can choose according to their characteristics and interest. There are specialized MBA courses for those who are interested in or for those who want to have expertise in the management of a specific industry. Below is a list of MBA courses:

  • MBA in Marketing / Strategic Marketing

  • MBA in E-Commerce

  • MBA in Finance / Financial Management

  • MBA (General)

  • MBA-Entrepreneurship

  • MBA in General Management

  • MBA in Finance & Investment

  • BA in Information Technology

  • MBA in Islamic Banking & Finance

  • MBA in Human Resource Management

  • MBA in Public Relations

  • MBA in Advertising

  • MBA in Total Quality Management

  • MBA in International Management

  • MBA in Construction & Real Estate

MBA Learning
MBA courses are offered in both full-time and part-time system. Full-time study usually takes 1-2 years and the non-full-time may take until 5 years. Amateur system or part-time system MBA program is designed primarily to meet the needs of the working graduate students.

In recent years, many MBA courses were introduced and even offered through distance education or open learning. This mode of learning gives students the opportunity to work and for them to make use of their spare time in learning. The latest online MBA courses or distance education concept is further developed and graduate students adopted Internet technology and conduct classes with their teachers through the internet.

Why should you study MBA courses
First, is to have access to the knowledge and skills offered in the MBA courses. MBA MBA courses have a wide spectrum, including marketing, finance, human resources management, information technology management, operations and quality management, strategy and policy analysis. A good MBA program collects and extracts from the learners their knowledge, skills and experience that will provide everybody a valuable learning experience. In other high-level exchanges, innovative ideas for a business’ fundamental change and enhancement are being expressed and developed.

MBA courses enable learners to be more effective and to deliver outstanding performance in their future work. Those who have completed MBA are highly qualified to work in large companies for they can deliver a full range of functions in a company’s total operation. They also have the ability to work more effectively in leading the company into its business development.

Modern enterprises have become increasingly complex. Therefore they need an efficient operator who has the ability to employ superb management skills for the entire company’s broad functional areas for effective control and propulsion.

B asic requirements for MBA
Most MBA courses’ requirement is for graduate students to have 3-5 years work experience and for them to have finished their first degree. However, some students who want to take MBA courses do not have their first degree but have rich work experience. They only want re-education because they need upgrading in some areas. Such exceptional circumstances are normally acceptable.

MBA courses suitable for your age
F ull-time learners in the post-graduate MBA courses are commonly at the age of 30 years old. This age usually has several years of work experience, but have not yet married that’s why their MBA study is not too great a burden. The amateur learners are usually in the age 30-50 years old.

The cost of MBA courses
In Malaysia, a complete MBA course fee is at least RM15, 000 and some of the fees may be as high as RM50, 000 and above. But Malaysia has many commercial banks that are happy to provide flexible study loans to qualified applicants. On the other hand, many schools also try to lower their fees or provide some flexible payment plans.

Some educational institutions also provide some funds, half or full scholarships, such as the University of Putrajaya Malaysia (UPM) MBA learners’ special fellowships. Distance education and online learning also reduce study costs. Currently, two higher education institutions offer online MBA courses, one is Duilasa University (UNITAR) and the other is Action Learning Center. I believe in the near future, there will be many institutions that will offer some distance MBA courses and the use of the distance learning MBA will be at least one-third cheaper compared with the traditional curriculum teaching methods courses.

Why study MBA courses in Malaysia
In Malaysia, the general MBA degree tuition is RM15, 000 - RM50, 000. For example Duilasa University (UNITAR) online MBA course fee is RM15, 000. Tuition fee in Malaysia is cheap. If in other countries, learning MBA course is 2-5 times more expensive than that in Malaysia considering the travel and living expenses.
