Split-degree Arrangement
The split degree arrangement allows partial completion of the degree programme in local private colleges but the final part of the programme will be completed at the twinning partner university overseas, which then confers the award or degree. Listed below are the three more common split degree arrangements that lead to Bachelor degree qualifications:
-
Twinning Degree Programme
-
Advanced Standing Programme
-
Credit Transfer Programme
In split-degree programs, students can first study in Malaysia to study college courses and the last year the student will study in the partner university. They will complete their studies and obtain their degrees in the host universities abroad such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Through this split-degree program, the student not only has the opportunity for cross-cultural learning overseas but is also able to obtain substantial savings on living expenses and tuition fees. For example, for a split degree arrangement of 2+1 with a UK university, the total tuition fees spent in the local private college (for 2 years) and the UK university (for the final year) is about RM60,000. This amount covers the cost of the entire programme, whereas if the entire programme was done at the UK university, the expenses would come to at least RM100,000 in total tuition fees for a period of 3 years.
