Sweden ’s Advantages

Education System

Sweden 's compulsory education is composed of three parts including comprehensive senior secondary and tertiary education. After nine years of compulsory education, about 90% of the students want to further their studies and schools have set up various vocational and academic courses, and various disciplines that last for 2 -4 years. Students can elect their own school. Institutions of higher education include traditional universities, colleges, and short-term vocational and technical education. All colleges and universities have free education. Undergraduate courses are ranging from 3 -5 years. After graduation, students can also pursue master’s degrees. Doctorate degrees usually take four years of study.

High Welfare

The Nordic countries have always been known for high welfare, particularly in Sweden. The visa office for the Immigration and Naturalization said that the most recent statistics show that up to 99% Chinese students in Sweden want to be granted Swedish long-term visa. The embassy said that they must meet two requirements. First, they should present the Swedish university invitation or notice of admission. Second, they should also provide economic guarantees.

Requirements of Studying in Universities

There are more than 60 universities in Sweden and majority of them were run by the national government. A few were run by the local government and a small portion was run by the private sector. Only seven are comprehensive universities. Recently, there is a rapid growth of the number of foreign students coming to Sweden. This is because the government of Sweden and the Swedish domestic universities actively follow the system of international education policy. There are around 16,000 graduate students in Sweden and there are more than 450 research sites. Students must receive at least three years of college education in order for them to be qualified to attend graduate education. Meanwhile, to be able to enter graduate education, there are special entry requirements and of these requirements is obtaining at least 60 credits.

In addition, each of the bodies of teachers in the Committee on Education will assess doctoral students. The Swedish government has also announced in recent years about the graduate subsidy system reform. According to the Swedish Foreign Cultural Exchanges Commission, all types of higher education in Sweden should have the same basic eligibility requirements.

It is not a requirement for applicants to have the necessary knowledge of Swedish but they should be proficient in English because the degree courses are taught in English.
