   Generally, many think that America has the most expensive tuition in the world but it is actually not. For instance, from among the more than 3,000 universities, tuition fee may be categorized as follows:

    1.USD15000 ~ 19000 (the equivalent of about RMB120000 – 155000)
    2.USD22000 ~ 25000 (the equivalent of about RMB179000 - 200000)
    3.USD40000 above (the equivalent of about RMB326000)

From these data, the cost of studying in the United States has no significant difference compared with Canada or united Kingdom. Moreover, students can choose from the many universities that could afford their budget.

The following is a detailed analysis on the cost of study in the United States for your reference:

Since the United States is vast in territory and different states have different standard of living. As such, universities, both public and private, in different states have different tuition fee rate. Generally, the cost of study in the US is based on the following two aspects:

    In general, the United States, in accordance with city life index (excluding a car, travel, telephone, entertainment and so on as additional spending), is divided into four:

The first one refers to the United States mega-cities, such as San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, Hawaii, Chicago, and Washington, DC, where the cost of living allowance is about USD1000 ~ 2,000 / month.

The second one refers to the United States cities, such as Pittsburgh, Seattle, Esmeralda, Atlanta, Austin, and Detroit, where the standard cost of living is USD800 ~ 1,000 / month.

The third one refers to the southern United States, the Midwest, some Southeast states such as Texas, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Utah, Colorado, Georgia, Virginia, and North Carolina, where the standard cost of living is USD600 ~ 800 / month.

The fourth one includes Oklahoma, Missouri, Louisiana, and South Carolina, where their living expenses about USD450 ~ 600 / month.

Generally, public universities charge lesser fees than private universities. The annual school fees of private universities in general is about USD 17000 ~ 24000 while the public university tuition fees each year is only to about 18,000 USD9000.

For postgraduate education, the fees are as follows:

Private universities:
*School of Law, School of Medicine, and the School of Business and Technology has an annual tuition of about 29,000 ~ USD22000.
*Social Sciences has the annual tuition of about 25,000 ~ USD18000.
* Academy of Sciences has the annual tuition of about 24,000 ~ USD17000.

General public universities :
* School of Law, School of Medicine and the School of Business and Technology has an annual tuition of about 20,000 ~ USD13000.
* Social Sciences has the annual tuition of about 17,000 ~ USD11000.
* Academy of Sciences has the annual tuition of about 14,000 ~ USD9000.

Through the figures above, you have already an idea and broad understanding of how much would it cost you to study in the United States. To determine how much renminbi per year would cost you studying in the United States, the following formula is helpful: for a year is about:

X$ (7.92)=Y

Where:

X = amount of money in US Dollars;

Y = amount/equivalent to Renminbi
